War

Only in Mankind, there is this discrimination between Good and Bad. No other "life" on Planet Earth has this privilege of being differentiated based on its characteristics.
When a snake kills a rat, its for food. When a deer eats a plant, its for food. When a soldier kills an enemy, he is a hero. But when a poor man steals money, he is a thief.
Life is a Convenience.
Humanity is not the 'characterisation' of a human. Just like any other living thing, we too are born to reproduce. Not to buy a ticket for heaven or hell.
"Selfish" is not a bad-word.
A generous person selfishly donates a beggar for his purpose and satisfaction. Requirement is for both. A king wants his son to be the next king, a Toilet Cleaner doesn't want his son to clean the next toilet. A 'devotee' using God and a 'customer' using a Prostitute are the same. if God was happy, then she is also...
A single sperm will compete with million other sperms to reach the egg. It is "survival" of the fittest, because we should know, that it's not the "sacrifice" of those millions.
Buddha sacrificed his own family. Hitler killed many families. May be, both were trying to win a war. Within them...
Just like Gandhi & Godsey, Teresa & Mallya, Politicians & Beggars, Film Stars & Rag-Pickers, Good & Bad, You & Me.
When you live, everyday is a war.
And in a war, loss is for both sides.
I am Fighting my own War.

  2. Surely there is a little good & a little bad in all of us?Life is'nt so simple, that we can simply say 'This is black & this is white'.May be,it's these contrasts within each of us that makes us tick, perhaps come to terms with ourselves & thus exist. We live in a 'grey' world where 'right' can easily turn into 'wrong' depending on circumstances & perspective.

  3. we all have a choice to make..
it seems as long as we wage our wars inside it is fine..
but can we smile at our neighbour if wage a war within..
how successful can we be in doing so..
in waging the wars within we are 'going' more and more farther from the world around us..

may the force be with us..

  4. we learn about what's good or bad as we grow up. we get our first knowledge from our family. they teach us values. they punish us when we do something bad and reward us when we do something good. we also learn naturally through experience -
if we get burnt by touching fire, we learn that touching fire is bad.

so generally, consequences/effects of human behavior teach us what is good and bad...and also what we are taught by those who are more experienced than us.

however - and this is the interesting part - what's good to one person may be bad to another. for example, in some societies public displays of affection are BAD. in other societies such as Mediterranean-cultured societies, people are greeted with a hug and kiss on both cheeks...and that is considered to be GOOD.

sometimes people don't know the difference from good or bad. this often comes from harmful upbringing, when as children we're not rewarded for being good, or we're rewarded for being bad. for example, children who are constantly being beaten and criticized by their parents regardless whether they're good or bad, results in extreme confusion when it comes to distinguishing between right and wrong.

there are many things i liked in the film, but, the best must be the symbolic shot of the hero using suthi and kodavali...hats off for that.

  7. Nice post.It reminded me of U.G.Krishnamurthy.Come to think of it, this whole post can work as a fantastic voice-over narration for a film's introduction. Just that the context need to be right.
